GRAPHICAL SYNTHESIS AND HYPOTHESIS VERIFICATION
In the final graphical summary, the three curves are compared: the HYPSOMETRIC CURVE, the POTENTIAL ENERGY PROFILE, and the FDC. The initial hypothesis, which associates potential energy values with drainage frequency, is confirmed if the Potential Energy Profile and the FDC curves show coaxial, or at least similar, bell-shaped trends within the active elevation range (between the Critical Point and the Equilibrium Point).
The example of the Reno River (Italy) shows that this coaxial trend is partially confirmed, suggesting an ongoing process of adaptation of the hydrographic network to the boundary conditions imposed by the Potential Energy Profile.
